About Wild Action

Wild Action is an environmental charity dedicated to rewilding activities in the UK. Our goal is to restore the natural habitats and biodiversity that have been lost over the years. Through our conservation efforts, we aim to create a sustainable future for wildlife and humans alike.

Our principles

We are committed to conserving and protecting the natural habitats and wildlife in the UK. Our rewilding activities aim to restore the balance of ecosystems and promote biodiversity.

Community Engagement, Education and Awareness

Action

Conservation

We carry out the rewilding work and activities ourselves, putting into action the principles of restoring local biodiversity.

We strive to educate and raise awareness about the importance of rewilding and its positive impact on the environment.

Our Approach

We want to take real world action to rewild a space that will have an appreciable impact on the local biodiversity and wildlife.

Our realistic and achievable goal is to initially rewild approximately 4 acres of land. Our future dream would be to build on that and rewild an even larger area, having an even bigger positive impact on the local biodiversity and wildlife.

Starting in 2024, we are developing a business plan which outlines our scope for the project. This is the foundation of our charity operation and sets us up for success into the future.

We will undertake a period of research and discovery in the local ecosystem of the specific region of the UK where we will be operating. There will be significant time dedicated to ensuring we understand the specific details of the local environment, what are the typical native species of flora and fauna in the area. This will be paramount to the success of the rewilding process, ensuring that only naturally occurring locally native species are propagated, avoiding any introduced or invasive elements. Contrary to some beliefs, rewilding a space requires significant planning and management. It is not simply a process of leaving a space completely alone, for everything to naturally reseed. This would take far longer to return to its original wild state (if it ever did - some past human activities on the land may restrict it) than if the space is carefully managed and nursed back to a wild state.

During the research and discovery phase, we will be fundraising and assessing available opportunities as they arise for land to acquire. Once at a point where the fundraising has been successful enough to enable it, we will select the appropriate land to acquire for rewilding.

Then the exciting part of our work can commence, the process of rewilding!

The rewilding will include planting trees, shrubs, grasses, wild flowers, and any other important flora of the specific area we are rewilding. Throughout this phase of the project, we will be documenting as much as possible. We will be taking surveys of the biodiversity before and throughout the rewilding, as well as photographs and video of the process. This will allow other environmental groups to track the progress of this project, and will allow us to provide education around the local community as to the impact and importance of the wild ecosystems.

Once successfully established, we plan to provide limited* public access to the land, to witness the effect of the rewilding process, with a hope to educate and inspire others to take on rewilding in whatever capacity they can.

OUR JOURNEY

What we're up to

Currently in Stage 2

Stage 1: Register our charity.

Stage 2: Develop our Business Plan.

Stage 3: Start Fundraising.
Stage 3a: Develop UKFS (UK Forest standard) plan, EIA (Environmental Impact Statement), etc. - required for some UK grants.

Stage 4: Select and Acquire Land to Rewild.

Stage 5: Develop full plan for rewilding and on-going management of acquired land.

Stage 6: Implement plan, get planting!
